In-Home Learning System (IHLS)

The IHLS is a workforce development program designed to help people move from dependence on government support to independence.  The program blends development in digital literacy, occupational skills and independent living to help participants gain employment, retain employment, and obtain raises/promotions as well as and extensive set of services designed to help participants develop life skills that are critical to living and succeeding independent of government support.

The program includes a computer and Internet installed in the participant's home as well as training courses in digital literacy, ABE, occupational skills, life skills, financial literacy, GED and more utilized through a customized secure online learning community.  Mentors support participants in staying on track and accomplishing their goals.

The "Standard System" includes all of the online features of the program and mentoring but does not include the computer and Internet services.

"Computer Related Services" include the computer and Internet services as listed in Amendment 3 below.

How to Order

Texas state agencies, non-profit entities, cities, counties, school districts and universities can purchase this program through purchase order utilizing the Department of Information Resources contract #DIR-SDD-532.  DIR has met competitive bid requirements as outlined in Texas Government Code, Section 791.025.  Purchases made under these contracts also qualify under E-Rate.
