There are many advantages to in-home learning for people with disabilities. By far, computers are the ultimate equalizer for people who need adaptive equipment. There are literally thousands of pieces of hardware and software that can compensate electronically for physical and sensory disabilities.
The In-Home Learning Community was originally conceived as a program for people with disabilities. Today, people with disabilities have been served in Dallas and Cameron Counties, working with the Veterans Administration , the Texas Commission for the Blind and the Texas Department of Human Services.

Texas
Texas state agencies, non-profit entities, cities, counties, school districts and universities can purchase this program through purchase order utilizing the Department of Information Resources contract #DIR-SDD-532. According to Texas Government Code, Section 791.025, DIR has met the competitive bid requirements, eliminating the need to customers to customers to follow this process. Purchase made under these contracts also qualify under E-Rate.
