Here's the news for this week from Upper Rio Grande @ Work:
-Upper Rio Grande @ Work will be holding a news conference in partnership
with Business Access, a Dallas based company that produces and
installs computers, Tuesday December 17, 2002 at 1359 Lomaland
Room 491 & 420. The two will announce a new program called "Access
Technology." The partnership will provide free computers and
internet-based classroom training to qualified participants in
low-income households. The computer installation is made possible
through two federal grants totaling $159,120. The program is designed
to enhance computer literacy among women, minorities, the financially
disadvantage, and residents in rural areas. For more information

- On Friday December 20, 2002, Upper Rio Grande @ Work Youth Services
will partner with Taylor Publishing to provide toys to the children
of youth services participants. In total, 170 children will receive
toys for the holiday season. The event will take place at 5919
Brookhollow at 10:00 a.m. For more information contact Youth Services

-Upper Rio Grande @ Work is preparing a news conference with Las
Palmas & Del Sol Regional Healthcare System of El Paso to announce
the HCA-Cares program. It is designed to turn around the nursing
shortage, by providing training and financial support to area nursing
students. The news event is scheduled for January 2003. For more
