The Sloan Center for Innovation in Workforce Training held a Distance Learning Summit in Washington, D.C., Dec. 15-16.
Randal Wier of WorkSource for Dallas County presented, along with representatives from the City of Chicago, the states of Maine and Arizona, and Goodwill.
Wier briefed the audience on the more than 3,000 customers WorkSource has served through the In-Home Learning System. WorkSource's In-Home Learning TANF customers have spent more than 470,000 hours online and have taken more than 18,000 courses. Of those clients, 84% now are off TANF.
WorkSource has also utilized the program for Hurricane Katrina evacuees, welfare-to-work customers, customers with disabilities, and youth.
