The San Bernardino County Transitional Assistance Department chose the In-Home learning system as their Technical Assistance pilot project after the California TANF Academy hosted by ACF and the California Department of Social Services last fall.
The In-Home will be used as bridging activity for participants enrolled in community work experience. They will use the In-Home to take vocational training, skills enhancement, digital and financial literacy and basic education for the balance of their weekly participation.
The goal is to prepare participants to move into unsubsidized employment leading to higher wages and getting and staying off of assistance.
San Bernardino is the largest geographical county in the country with both rural and urban areas.
The project is being evaluated by the University of California Davis.
