Business Access is a new member of the Council for Resource Development. CRD (http://crdnet.org/) is comprised of development officers, grant writers, foundation directors, alumni officers, college presidents, administrators, faculty, and staff that connect, educate, support, strengthen, and celebrate community college development professionals.
US DOE Deputy Assistant Secretary Glen Cummings addressed attendees on The Challenge and Opportunities of the American Graduation Initiative and informed that the Department of Education would be looking for innovative solutions to the ‘black hole of developmental studies’. (58% of all community college attendees participate in developmental classes)
Overwhelmingly, attendees agreed that an online developmental studies program removes barriers that typically hinder students and contribute to lowered retention of developmental students.
Business Access’ online learning communities have been the technical platform for 150+ workforce development projects in 10 states since 2000 with stellar results including off of assistance for 7 years in our TANF programs and a 78% reduction in recidivism in our re-entry programs.
Business Access has implemented technology based workforce development programs in urban, rural, tribal, border and other “high risk” settings.
